World leaders are being invited to a special signing ceremony for the Paris Climate Agreement in New York on 22 April – Earth Day. Right now the adopted Paris Agreement is just words on paper. We need world leaders to sign it and start putting it into action, to help make our world a better, safer place.
Faith leaders from around the world are coming together to release a powerful statement, calling on world leaders to make this happen and to ramp up their ambition – to commit to 1.5°C limit of warming to protect the vulnerable. This Interfaith Statement will be handed over to the President of the United Nations General Assembly at a special faith based ceremony in New York on April 18.
The statement is facilitated by GreenFaith in joint collaboration with many faith-based climate groups. They aim need to show that support does not come just from faith leaders but that there is huge support from across the faith community, around the world.
The more of us that add our voices, the more influential we will be. Operation Noah board members have signed the statement. Please add your name today.
Rev. Fletcher Harper of Our Voices says: “As people of faith, we have important moral authority in the world, and also a great responsibility. Our faith tells us that we must act to protect the vulnerable and care for the earth. By coming together behind this Statement, showing our united voice in support of the Paris Agreement, we bring the world a step closer to the safe, healthy future we want to see.”
