Pray and fast for the climate launch speeches

‘Pray and fast for the climate’ was launched on Saturday 1 November 2014 with special services in London, Brighton, Lancaster, Coventry, Southwell and Bracknell.

Church of England diocese decides to go fossil free

Press release, 17 November 2014: On Saturday, Oxford Diocese called on the Church of England to disinvest from fossil fuel companies and now pledges to examine its own investments.

Oxford Diocesan Synod has passed a resolution urging the Church of England’s National Investing Bodies to disinvest from fossil fuel companies. The resolution was passed with a majority of 52 in favour, with 37 against and seven abstentions. Read more

Prayer movement launched for a just global climate agreement

Press release, 20 October 2014: Christian organisations in the UK are coming together to launch a year of prayer and fasting for the climate at special services across the country on 1 November 2014. This initiative calls on Christians to pray and fast on the first day of every month to make a stand for climate justice. The coming year is a crucial time for faith communities to act in response to the climate crisis, as momentum builds towards a new international climate agreement to be signed in Paris in December 2015 to stop dangerous climate change.
