In our October 2023 newsletter, we celebrate how UK Churches are creating a ‘new normal’ by rejecting fossil fuels and creating something new, including 427 Christian leaders telling Rishi Sunak to Stop Rosebank and the Church of England releasing £30 million to support its 2030 Net Zero target. We also discuss our upcoming Church investment in climate solutions conference in Central London and much more.
Are you a financial decision-maker for a denomination, diocese or Church investment body? If so, you are invited to attend our ‘Financing a Liveable Future: Church Investment in Climate Solutions’ conference at Friends’ House, Euston Road, London on Tuesday 7 November, 10am to 4pm. On Saturday 14 October, Operation Noah held our 2023 online Supporters’ Event, with three speakers reflecting on our topic, ‘Somewhere Good: The Climate Crisis and the Prophetic Imagination’. In addition to our three speakers, we also celebrated our recent campaign wins – particularly the decision by the Church of England’s Pensions Board and Church Commissioners to divest from all fossil fuel companies – as well as providing updates on our other campaigns

Are you a Christian with a passion for addressing the climate and biodiversity crises – and do you believe the Church has a vital role to play? Operation Noah is looking for new trustees, and we are particularly keen to hear from people who have a background in human resources or fundraising, or with the interest and ability to learn what is needed to be a trustee with responsibility for one of these areas.

In an open letter, 427 Christian leaders – including former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rt Revd Rowan Williams, and Archbishop of Glasgow, Rt Revd William Nolan – call on PM to stop the Rosebank oil field. The letter says Rosebank ‘will not provide energy security, uphold our obligations to care for our global neighbours or create sustainable jobs fit for the green energy future we need…we do not take a partisan view on Rosebank, we take a moral view. It’s time to show international and moral leadership – and stop Rosebank.’
