As we prepare to celebrate Christmas and welcome in the New Year, we first wanted to look back on 2022 by compiling our Top 10 Moments. Over the past 12 months, the Church has used its voice to challenge climate injustice, its money to invest in climate solutions and its power to stop funding fossil fuels. In our final newsletter of the year, we celebrate the inspiring work of campaigners to care for creation and to mobilise the Church and society to do likewise.

In July’s newsletter, we revisit our recent Global Divestment Announcement in which 35 faith institutions from seven countries representing over $1.25 billion in combined assets divested from fossil fuel companies. We also explore how the Diocese of Truro is moving to net zero while investing in climate solutions, and we celebrate the Methodist Church of Great Britain’s decision to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, becoming the largest UK denomination to do so.

This latest announcement represents over $2 billion in assets under management. Institutions joining the announcement include the Diocese of London, Canterbury Cathedral, the Catholic diocese of Northampton and the Carmelite religious order.
