The People’s Pilgrimage

Operation Noah supports the People’s Pilgrimage launched by OurVoices in solidarity with all those affected by climate change around the world.

This is the chance for people of faith to join thousands of other pilgrims to make our call for climate action heard far and wide. Pilgrims across the globe will be taking both long and short journeys, visiting places at risk from climate change, sites of fossil fuel exploitation, places of community resistance and places that demonstrate inspiring solutions for a fossil-free future.

Anyone, anywhere can organise or take part in a pilgrimage in the run-up to the Paris COP21 climate summit this December.  Yeb Sano, former Filipino climate envoy, is the catalyst for the People’s Pilgrimage. He is embarking on his climate journey from his home town Tacloban where Typhoon Haiyan began in 2013 to share the stories of those facing climate change on the ground.

The People’s Pilgrimage is a way to show the diversity of faith concern for the climate and our yearning for a meaningful global agreement this year. A special map-based storytelling platform will share all the journeys that pilgrims will be taking. The aim is for the total number of steps taken to represent a walk at least once around the globe.

Check out the resources available to help you organise a pilgrimage and see what’s already planned. Please tell others in your church community and further afield and encourage them to join in.

Let’s show global leaders how small and precious our planet is!
