Vacancy: volunteer or trustee treasurer

Date posted: 25 January 2018

Operation Noah is seeking a Treasurer. Could this be you?

  • The role of Treasurer is voluntary and unpaid (expenses will be reimbursed on request).
  • The Treasurer will ideally be appointed in due course as a member of the trustee board and so will share responsibility for guiding the strategic direction and priorities of ON.
  • The Treasurer will report to the board on the financial situation at trustee meetings.

In addition, the Treasurer will work with the Chair and with members of staff employed on our grant-funded campaigns to:

  • develop an annual budget and monitor the progress of that budget;
  • advise on financial priorities and risks;
  • bank any cheques or cash received and pay all invoices;
  • ensure that accounts are ready to be certified by the independent examiner so that they can be sent to the Charity Commission; and
  • help ensure that new and existing legislation relating to finances is complied with.

The Treasurer does not need to be a qualified accountant, or to have any formal qualifications in relation to keeping accounts. However, previous experience either as a charity trustee or as treasurer of a voluntary group would be useful. In addition, experience of using HMRC Basic Tools, and with the Workplace Pension for employees, would be helpful.

Operation Noah currently employs a part-time book-keeper and both they and the immediate past Treasurer will be happy to provide handover assistance and advice.
